Someone in our house.......turned on the bathroom sink in the middle of the night and forgot to turn it off! We awoke to about three inches of standing water on the bottom floor of our house! Truthfully, I heard the water and thought it was raining! Only when the alarm on our stove went beep beep beep, did I wake up. I thought it was Shay's alarm clock and was going to throw it out the window....but when I opened my bedroom door, I realized the rain was actually water running across my hallway and down the steps..........
Uggghh.........fortunately we were able to save the carpeting (just had to have it professionally cleaned) but we lost most of our children's books.......(Lemony Snicket, Harry Potter, Dr. Seuss, lots of Scholastic books and the entire phonics set). And lots of stinky laundry.
But it could have been much worse- it could have been the toilet.
