Arrow of Light

Andrew is now a Boy Scout!  He received his Arrow of Light award last month.

Sorry for the fuzzy picture, Dad forgot the camera at home, so a friend took the picture with her cell phone. (Thanks Mindy)!

Everyone is back from camp safe and sound and the laundry has all been caught up! Kayla got stung by a bee and Shay lost his scout shirt (he lost it last year too!)

Happy Anniversary Vincie and Angel!  (Sam's older brother).

My Best Buddy Nicole

This is Abby and her friend Nicole.  Abby the stylist did the hairdos all by herself, luckily there were NO scissors involved this time!

(If you want to view previous journal entries, you can "click" the View Archives link)

I Made it all by Myself

This is the toolbox that Alex made in Day Camp. He was supposed to make a milk jug bird feeder, but he said the milk jugs smelled like someone found them in a dumpster!

One more day of Day Camp to go.  Tomorrow is family day, so the little ones and I will be joining Alexander for lunch and the program.

Kayla and Shay will be home tomorrow too........Shay has a special update but I'll wait for him to come home and tell it! (My lips are sealed).

Sniper.....No Sniping

Ask Andrew what he wants to be when he grows up and this is the answer you'll get!

He doesn't want to be Army though....he wants to be an FBI agent.

(I love this picture......)

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho.....It's Off to Camp They Go....

Shay is at Scout Camp and Kayla is at Girl's Camp..................they won't be back until Friday.  Shay can't wait to go fishing.......and Kayla decided that she couldn't go without her hair straightener (it's on the list of no-no's but she took it anyway)!

Alexander had his first day of Day Camp today!  He said it was the greatest!  It was probably because he got to shoot the BB Guns on the first day. (Check out his shooting skills)   He likes archery too.  It was a nice day for camp- at least it wasn't too hot (or humid).

Oh, Where Has My Hair Gone?

No, this is not a Veggie Tale song.  Abby decided that she would cut her hair last night.

I was talking to her Daddy on the phone and she opened up the bathroom door and said "There you go!"

She had the BIGGEST smile on her face. As I looked at her and saw hair on the floor, I was speechless. ( She cut both sides of her hair )

I hung up with her Daddy, and then she started crying..........I told her it was OK that hair would grow back and that we would go to the salon tomorrow and get it fixed.  So she cries even more, "I don't want to get a haircut!" (Oh, and what did she call what she had done?????)

Everyone of our kids have cut their hair at some point or another, Kayla not only cut her hair, but Shay's and the dog's as well!

So, I've went around the house and hid all the scissors- how many times must I do this........(I swear we have 50 pairs of scissors)......

I'm sure most of you have gotten a good giggle out of this.......SHARE.....tell us about your hair-cutting kids.....

It's All About Stars and Stripes

Today is Flag Day...the 228th birthday of the United States Flag

In 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the stars and stripes pattern for the national flag.

In case you didn't learn this in your history class, the 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies of America.

And each of the 50 stars represents each state of the Union.

There is no record why the Continental Congress chose red, white, and blue as the colors for the flag.

Pledge of Allegiance:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The picture is of Melissa proudly displaying the Stars and Stripes!

The Dance: Shay's Version

As you can see I'm half asleep while Mom is taking my picture......

It took forever to get there (my group got lost)!

It wasn't as good as most dances, but I got to dance with Emily.

I'm going to bed.

Shay

The Dance: Kayla's Version

It could have been better...... there was nobody there!

They played the same song four times in a row, then my battery went dead (thank goodness)!

My friend, Katie and I checked out the guys------- Katie also did the Napoleon Dynamite dance.......fun.

I wanna go back to Oklahoma!

I love my Happy Bunny shirt!

Kayla

Mommy, Take My Picture

Abby is feeling much better!  When I woke up this morning Jacob was laying beside of her with his hand on her forehead.  I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "Seeing if she has a temperature."  He has always loved taking caring of his baby sister.

Andrew and I went shopping at 5:00 this morning, we love 24 hour Wal-Mart SuperCenters!  Andrew added to his Star Wars Collection, I guess the 17 figures he got for his birthday weren't enough!  We actually got a really great deal and bought Shay a bike that they had just reduced to $32.00!

Kayla and Shay are going to a dance tonight in Pinehurst.  The little ones and I are going to try to get to the library again- hopefully before they close!

Sam is helping a family move today- (even in Oklahoma he's busy).  He went to a friends baseball game last night and he's planning on visiting some other friends tonight.

Have a Super Saturday!

Boys BEWARE....

Abby has not been feeling well the past two days and of course she hasn't slept at night.....she has been taking a few naps through the day.

Trying to get Shay a physical for Scout Camp but RHC is not doing physicals for the next 28 days.  Go figure.

I took the little kids to the library- it was closed.......

It's been one of those days.

Hopefully with some sleep tomorrow will be better.

Lorie

I put Boys BEWARE for the caption of Abby's picture.......check out the PLASTIC knife attached to her belt loop!

Young Jedis

Sam is in Oklahoma safe and sound.  His luggage was lost for a while. (Thanks Sherrie for taking care of him).

We had a thunderstorm last night, lots of thunder and lightning.  It didn't seem to bother any of the kids though, they were just upset that I made them turn off the computers and the tv!

Abby decided to "swing" from the patio curtains yesterday, so I pulled a chair over to fix the curtain rod and broke the chair leg. Now we have a bent curtain rod and a broken chair...........oh well, I wanted new chairs anyway!

This picture is of my Jacob and his friend Jacob, they were sitting on a branch outside talking about Star Wars.........

Journal Question:  Do you like thunderstorms?

 Why or why not?

Lorie:

I love thunderstorms.  When we lived in Oklahoma, Sam and I used to watch the storms from our patio. Although, we did not like the time we drove through the tail end of a tornado in Dallas.  We couldn't even see to pull over!

Alexander:

I like the noise of thunderstorms.

Do you like thunderstorms? Why or why not?  Sign in and let us know!

The Story of Abby's Bike

This is Abby's bike.  This is Abby on her bike.

Abby loves her bike.  Mommy hates her bike.

Santa brought Abby this bike for Christmas ( I think it was the cookies that did it!)

Anyway......this is the story.

Abby loves her bike.  She rides it everday. She rides it everywhere, to the mailbox, to the Covey's house, and to the Neighborhood Center.  But, the problem is nobody knows that Abby is riding her bike.  Abby is an escape artist.  She can open doors and sneak out of them quicker than you can say "Abby, where are you?"

When we get no answer, the first think we do is look to see if her bike is on the patio, if it's missing - we start searching.

Abby's bike used to have training wheels, but one broke off , so I thought it would sit a few days until Dad bought a new set---WRONG--- she rode it with one training wheel.  Last weekend, Daddy took off the other training wheel, and she just started riding without any training wheels! Up and down streets, where ever her little pedals could take her.

So that puts us where we are now.....Abby riding her bike everywhere......and Mommy praying for a wheel to fall off!  (Just not while Abby is on it!)

Daddy, we miss you already!

I think HE descended from a monkey............

Sam will be leaving tomorrow morning to spend six weeks in Oklahoma.....LUCKY.....

(of course Melissa corrected me 6x7=42, so he will be gone for MORE than six weeks, he will actually be gone for 45 days, sorry Melissa........)

I on the other hand will be running the Culotta shuttle bus....aka....the van.

We're praying the six weeks will pass quickly and that Abby's bike will lose a wheel or something!

Have a Happy Sunday!

Melissa's School Play

This is a picture from Melissa's school play.

Melissa was a cow who was a little shy, since she was the only cow in the barnyard, but with some really awesome friends and some nice compliments along the way, she overcame her shyness.  It was an aMOOzing play!
