REALLY BORED

If your child (Shay) goes to Lowe's to attend a "mini-class" on "how to install laminate flooring"  they might be bored...............

There's Something About a Man in Uniform.......

Family History is Soooo Addictive.

I thought I would share some pics of the military men in my life......

The first is my grandfather , Lawrence Dale Parker who served in the US Army.   The second is his brother, Marshall Parker, the third is another brother Andy Parker. The fourth picture is of my grandmother ( Goldie Parker)'s brother, Leroy Scott, and the last picture is of her brother Bud Scott (the back reads that it was taken in Rome June 26, 1944).

I am so thankful for "cousins" who are willing to share family information and especially photos.  Family history truly is a labor of love.  Yesterday, I found some information that I had been searching for, for a long time!

My kids roll their eyes when they see the family history books coming out.......they know it's sandwiches for dinner!

Love Letters

Jacob's little friend Alyssa left him a note on our back patio.

Soooo cute!

Sam is gone again this time to Fort Polk, Louisiania.  He will be back on the 3rd of August.....it is HOT here today (103 degrees) but not as hot as it is in Arizona (106 degrees in Anthem......Bridget, are you at the waterpark today?)

The missionaries stopped by today on their bikes and I gave them some popsicles! They gladly took them!

Someone's getting OLD......

Happy Birthday to You!

 Happy Birthday to You!

 Happy Birthday Sam (and Alex)!

 Happy Birthday to You!

(Alex waited until dad came home to have his birthday, we bought him a GameCube so we actually haven't seen much of him!)

Pioneer Day

Yesterday we celebrated Pioneer Day.  We had about 75 people attend!

The kids had a watermelon seed spitting contest, made macaroni necklaces, played with hula hoops, sang pioneer songs, and had lunch (and dessert)- dutch oven style!

I don't think I would have made a very good pioneer.....

It was so much fun watching the little ones trying to spit seeds!  One of the litle ones (about 18 months or so) was picking the seeds out and only eating them, not the watermelon.  So cute.

He's HOME!

Sam made it back safe and sound to Fort Bragg, we picked him up at the airport last night, then went out to eat at Los Comales.

Abby and Jacob were his shadow all night, it was so funny!

He's glad to be home, but misses Lawton too.

Dear Lawton Family,

Thanks so much for taking care of him while he was there, even though we know he was "working" we like to tease him about his "six weeks vacation".

Sherrie(and Bobby and Angela)  thanks for spoiling him! And Karen and Boyd, Sue and Joe, Becky and Eddie, Lisa and Brian and Cindy and Rick, thanks for seeing that he was well fed. And to the many friends that he enjoyed visiting with..a huge thanks!

Youth Conference

This past week Kayla and Shay were able to attend Youth Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina.  They participated in a Service Project and had a really great time......Shay said he LOVED the dances (like we thought he would NOT????).

We have a really great group of kids at church....

left to right:  Emily, Shay, Alex, Katie and Kayla

The Happy Hands Club

ONE MORE DAY TIL SAM COMES HOME!!!!!!

As most of you probably know by now Napoleon Dynamite is one of my favorite movies (yes, like anyone could know that).

This pic is of Alexander's favorite scene the Happy Hands Club....'I say love, it is a flower'....

Poor Abby thinks her daddy is in Oklahoma training to be a cage fighter, the other day she kicked me in the leg and said "gimme your tots". Oh, the influence of movies.........

So what's your favorite Napoleon Dynamite scene, phrase, etc?

And if you haven't saw the movie yet......."Your mom goes to college"

Kayla's Birthday and Roses from Someone.......

She's 17!

Well, I survived the birthday party!  The kids seemed to have fun, they watched movies, ate pizza, cake, ice cream and popcorn!  Then they finished the evening with some LOUD music and flashing red lights.

Ok, the pictures..........

This morning, ding dong, delivery for Kayla............hmmmmmmmmmm...........roses from a certain missionary...............(he's definitely a KEEPER!)

and the Dancing Queens....(Kayla and her friend Katie)...actually they were dancing to Spice Girls- Spice up Your Life.........of course they did the Hand Jive and the Chicken Dance and they ALL sang 1985 as loud as they could!

Emily won the Napoleon Dynamite quiz with 19/45 answers, but when Katie showed up later she outdone the rest with 29/45 answers.

I, of course, made a 100%.

Happy Birthday Kayla!

Kayla's Room

Kayla wanted her room re-done for her birthday!  There is still some more to finish but we got a great start.

Can you believe she is 17!

She is having a movie night and we are dragging out the big popcorn machine!

We are preparing to have our house overrun with teenagers tomorrow night (please someone save me)!

(Shhhh..Did you notice the LDS missionary in the pics on her desk?)

Swimming Fun

11 days until Sam comes home! (but seriously, who's counting)

Please keep my friend Amy in your prayers.  Her brother was injured in an accident at the beginning of the week.  He is in the hospital recovering from a brain injury along with multiple broken bones.  This is an especially difficult time as Amy's husband, Bill is deployed in Afghanistan.

All has been pretty quiet on the home front............let's hope it stays that way.

Abby and Jacob took a few minutes to cool down last night in the pool!
